Join me in my studio painting with acrylics
My workshops are fun and engaging set up to create a working space where you can paint what you want. Each workshop has a suggested subject but individual projects are always welcome. I work one to one with you to create as you would in your own studio. We will experiment with colour and technique. I am enthusiastic and will love sharing my knowledge and passion for painting with you.

Salisbury Group of Artists Workshop
by Karen Welsh July 2019
A group of us attended a workshop painting summer trees with Karen Welsh. Karen had some examples of her own beautiful paintings displayed, and demonstrated how she achieved some of the effects in her work.
Karen started by talking about materials and how to use various mediums with acrylic paint. She then talked about colours and the properties of various brands of acrylic colours. We had all been asked to bring along photos of landscapes with trees, and Karen showed us how to pick out the shapes and start to lay down the paint starting with the dark colours first. This was a very different technique for those in the class who are used to working in other media, in this workshop we worked from laying down the dark shades first and then layered the paint using the light shades and highlights last. Karen demonstrated with a painting that she worked on at intervals throughout the day, and also came to each of us giving advice. Her feedback was always constructive respecting that we work in different styles, and she could be heard asking people how they would feel about implementing her ideas. At the end of the day everyone had produced at least one very successful picture. I enjoyed the day, and hope that Karen will be asked to come back and teach another workshop.
